THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 29 thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,

Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074 is amended as follows:

Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074 of 13 November 2017 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Venezuela (OJ L 295, 14.11.2017, p. 60 , ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2017/2074/oj).

(1) On 13 November 2017 , the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074 of 13 November 2017 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Venezuela (OJ L 295, 14.11.2017, p. 60 , ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2017/2074/oj). .

(2) Considering the deepening political crisis in Venezuela, as well as the persistent actions undermining democracy and the rule of law, continued human rights violations and the repression of civil society and democratic opposition, including in relation to the conduct of and developments following the presidential elections of 28 July 2024 , in that country, and on the basis of a review of Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074, the restrictive measures set out in that Decision should be renewed until 10 January 2027 .

(3) Moreover, the entries for four natural persons set out in Annex I to Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074 should be updated.

(4) Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074 should therefore be amended accordingly,

(1) in Article 13, in the first paragraph, the date 10 January 2026 is replaced by that of 10 January 2027 ;

(2) Annex I is amended in accordance with the Annex to this Decision.

This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union .
