THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 37 thereof,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 218(5) and (6) thereof,
Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,
The Agreement between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation establishing a framework for the participation of the Swiss Confederation in European Union crisis management operations is hereby approved on behalf of the UnionThe text of the Agreement is published in OJ L, 2026/581, 17.3.2026, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/agree_internation/2026/581/oj. . Its signing, expressing the consent of the Union to be bound by the Agreement, is hereby authorised.

(1) In October 2004, the Council authorised the opening of negotiations with the Swiss Confederation for an agreement between the Union and the Swiss Confederation establishing a framework for the participation of the Swiss Confederation in European Union crisis management operations.
(2) On the basis of that authorisation, such an agreement has been negotiated between the Union and the Swiss Confederation.
(3) The Agreement between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation establishing a framework for the participation of the Swiss Confederation in European Union crisis management operations should be approved on behalf of the Union and its signing should be authorised in order to bind the Union,
This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
