THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 28(1) and Article 41(2) thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,

In Article 1 of Decision (CFSP) 2024/1980, paragraph 4 is replaced by the following: 4.The duration of the assistance measure shall be 30 months from the date of adoption of this Decision..

Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/1980 of 15 July 2024 on an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility to support the Beninese Armed Forces with military equipment designed to deliver lethal force (OJ L, 2024/1980, 16.7.2024, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2024/1980/oj).

(1) On 15 July 2024 , the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2024/1980Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/1980 of 15 July 2024 on an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility to support the Beninese Armed Forces with military equipment designed to deliver lethal force (OJ L, 2024/1980, 16.7.2024, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2024/1980/oj). , which established an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility to support the Beninese Armed Forces with military equipment designed to deliver lethal force.

(2) The full implementation of the planned support to the Beninese Armed Forces will not be completed until after the end of the implementation period of Decision (CFSP) 2024/1980. That period should therefore be extended by six months from 15 July 2026 to 15 January 2027 .

(3) Decision (CFSP) 2024/1980 should therefore be amended accordingly,

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
